I am new to this site and not really involved with Wicca, although I have just found out that my grandfather was a member of the Rosicrutian Order Crotona Fellowship with Alex Mathews. His father and mother before him were also members.

My grandfather and G grandfather also took part in his plays in the theatre at Christchurch.

I was wondering if anyone can tell me about the fellowship, apart from the usual paragraphs on the internet. I do have some of the teachings from the 40's. Just haven't managed to look through them yet.

Does anyone know any of the members involved?

Sorry lots of questions,

Angie

Angie (and others) hi...

I must admit that I've joined with the primary aim of contacting Angie (and I suspect that she did with the idea of asking this question) - if you're still watching this site, you have a PM from me.

I've been researching the Rosicrucian Order Crotona Fellowship and can suggest a couple of other sources. The history is summarised in Philip Heselton's "Wiccan Roots", which extensively studies the links between the order and Gerald Gardner.

My own take on Heselton and some of my own research has been posted on "Mystic Wicks" and shows up on Google.

Angie, if you or anyone else has any of the teachings (all or virtually so originated by Gerald Sullivan, the founder, writing under his journalistic pen-name Alex Matthews or occasionally as the less formal 'Muser') I'd be extremely interested in seeing copies. I've been through all of the stuff originated by him that's in the Southampton University library collection, and it's fragmentary in the extreme. Anything, no matter how trivial, might add something new to the history.

I had a little time to search around, and found this page listing on Amazon. I've not read the book so can't tell you if it's any good, but from this:

http://www.amazon.com...

which lists eight references to the Fellowship including some other sources, I suspect that it is.
